Objects of Fire in Quartz Sand

Unearthed is a series of candleholders made from quartz sand, appearing both as excavated artefacts and as natural crystallisations emerging from the earth.
Rather than treating the past as style, reference or irony; the objects seek an archaic force within the present, and into the future. The forms are neither inherited nor created, drawn from an underlying order in nature, they are made visible through will and matter.
The candle becomes a vertical axis, a contemporary ritual object for carrying fire - the intermediary force through which the order reveals itself.
