Secret Garden is a result of a group project where we were assigned to Nacka nature reserve in Stockholm. We decided to create a facility that questioned the very fundamentals of the public toilet. The toilet stands like a small burnt croft in a field. The outlines of the structure mimic the traditional Swedish Torp, but what lies inside transcends the traditional concept of the Torp.
Upon entry you will walk into a small dark anteroom with a bench and hooks to hang of unnecessary clothing. From the middle of the dark room, light shines through and leads you to the main room. The main room however is lacking a roof, and the ground is vegetated by the same species as outside.
In the center of the main room there is a steel toilet placed on a concrete podium, more like a throne than a toilet. The toilet seat is under a small translucent roof, providing shelter while letting the weather play as it might.
